You know something isn't working: maybe you're lying awake at 2am, Googling your symptoms or asking Claude if you're normal.Maybe you're stuck in a pattern you can't seem to break, no matter how well you understand it. Maybe life looks fine from the outside but feels flat, off, or just not quite yours.

Approach

I bring clinical training and lived experience as a queer therapist in recovery, with a background in substance use counselling, group facilitation, and harm reduction. I also spent a good many years in the rinse-and-repeat cycle of addiction before finding my way out, so I have a fondness and empathy for those caught up in that kind of mess. I have a Fine Arts degree, MA in Creative Writing and New Media, published a few books, designed magazines, and at one point owned a bar on a Greek island .... and I bring bits and pieces of my lived experience into my approach.I'm not here to nod slowly and ask how that makes you feel. Therapy with me is collaborative, honest, and occasionally funny, not to avoid the hard stuff, but because sometimes acknowledging the sheer absurdity of being human is the most useful thing we can do.My approach draws on existential therapy, narrative therapy, and Buddhist-informed mindfulness. In plain terms: we look at the stories you're living by, where they came from, and whether they're actually true. I'll also draw on DBT, CBT, and Non-Violent Communication when they're useful.7 days between sessions is a long time, so I'll often suggest small things to try in between. Nothing overwhelming. Just enough to keep things moving.

I work with adults across California who are:

  • Part of the LGBTQ+ community navigating identity and self-worth

  • Feeling stuck, flat, or like they're going through the motions

  • In the middle of a life transition (career, relationships, loss, a move) and not entirely sure what comes next

  • Carrying a low-grade existential dread about the general state of things

  • Looking for practical tools alongside the deeper work

  • Looking to work on communication with a partner, friends or family

  • In early recovery, or starting to question their relationship with substances

I accept Anthem, Blue Shield, and Magellan insurance, and offer sliding scale fees. Individual sessions are $150 (50 min). Cost shouldn't be the reason you don't get support — so please just ask.Free 15-minute consultation: 323 813 7046Telehealth only, because nobody actually enjoys driving in SoCal.
Monday–Friday, 7am–3pm, with some flexibility.
Supervised by Anneliese Hanson, LMFT #9217.

FAQ

Completely fine. Most people aren't sure what to expect at first — we just start talking and go from there.

Very common, and completely fine. Whether your last experience was helpful, mixed, or just quietly fizzled out — we start from where you are now. No catching up required.

Honestly, you probably won't know until we've had a conversation. That's what the free 15-minute consult is for — no commitment, no paperwork, just a chat to see if it feels like a decent fit.

That depends entirely on you and what you're working on. Some people come for a few months, others longer. We can talk about that as we go — there's no contract and no pressure.

That's fine too. You don't need to arrive with an agenda. Sometimes "I don't really know where to start" is exactly the right place to begin.
